Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 22, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But we've tried to make this one straightforward because we genuinely care about how your information gets handled when you work with us or just browse around our site.

When you reach out to us or submit a project inquiry, we'll collect basic stuff like your name, email, phone number, and whatever details you share about your project. If you're just browsing, we might pick up some technical data through cookies - things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited.

For actual client projects, we'll obviously need more detailed info - site addresses, project requirements, budget considerations, timeline expectations. You know, the practical stuff we need to actually design something for you.

Pretty simple really - we use your info to respond to inquiries, work on your projects, send you updates about ongoing work, and occasionally share relevant news about sustainable design trends or our latest projects (but only if you're cool with that).

We're not in the business of selling your data or spamming you. We're architects, not marketers. Your project details stay confidential, and we'll only share them with consultants or contractors who need to know - and only with your permission, obviously.

Yeah, we use cookies. They help us understand which parts of our site people actually look at and which ones get ignored (turns out, people really like looking at project photos - who knew?).

Most browsers let you block cookies if that's your thing, though it might make some features work a bit wonky. We use Google Analytics to see general traffic patterns, but nothing creepy or invasive. Just helps us know if anyone's actually visiting the site.

We take security seriously. All data transmission happens over encrypted connections (that's the little lock icon in your browser). Our servers are maintained by reputable hosting providers with proper security measures in place.

Client files and project data are stored securely and backed up regularly. We've got password protections, limited access protocols - all that good stuff. That said, nothing online is 100% bulletproof, so we can't guarantee absolute security. But we're doing everything reasonable to keep your info safe.

Physical documents? Those stay locked in our office when not in use, and we shred sensitive stuff before disposal.

We don't sell your information. Period. However, we sometimes need to work with other professionals - structural engineers, environmental consultants, contractors, city planning departments. When that happens, we'll share only what's necessary for the project.

We also use some standard business tools - email services, cloud storage, project management platforms. These providers have their own privacy policies, and we've chosen ones that meet Canadian privacy standards.

If required by law (like a court order or regulatory investigation), we might have to disclose information. But that's pretty rare and we'd let you know if it's legally possible to do so.

Under Canadian privacy law (specifically PIPEDA), you've got rights. You can ask to see what information we have about you, request corrections if something's wrong, or ask us to delete your data (though we might need to keep some stuff for legal or professional liability reasons).

Want to opt out of our occasional newsletters? There's an unsubscribe link in every email. Takes two seconds.

If you've got concerns about how we've handled your information, talk to us first. We'll sort it out. If you're still not happy, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We keep client project files for seven years after project completion - that's standard practice for architectural firms and covers us legally if questions come up down the road. Inquiry information from people who don't become clients? We'll typically delete that after a couple years if there's been no follow-up.

Marketing emails stick around until you unsubscribe. General website analytics data gets aggregated and anonymized pretty quickly - we're looking at trends, not tracking individuals.

We might update this policy occasionally as our practices evolve or regulations change. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here. If it's a significant change, we'll probably send an email to let active clients know.

It's worth checking back once in a while, though we promise not to pull any sneaky stuff or suddenly change how we handle your information without good reason.

Got questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your information? Just reach out. We're way more approachable than this legal document makes us sound.
